Finding North

Finding north in Minecraft is as simple as placing a bedrock block.  Look down at the block.  You will notice a small dark gray "S".  This "S" is always on the south side of the block.

It can be very helpful in Minecraft to know which way you are facing.  When locating coordinates in Minecraft it is helpful (especially for young students) to first face north and then use the following keys to navigate.

If you are facing North:

X Coordinate

  "A" moves West
  "D" moves East

Z Coordinate

"Shift" moves Down

Y Coordinate

  "S" moves South
