1 Hour - Introduced mentee and students to my newly created website (minecraftintheclassroom.com). Students took gamer quiz that I created. Mentee documented each gamer type to help set up teams. Students were put in a world and told they had to practice crafting because they will need to know how to gather supplies. Students were great at helping each other. At one point I asked who had made a crafting table - 5 students raised their hands. 5 minutes later I was going to give all students a crafting table but everyone had one (thanks to the helpers). I had those students stand up be my assistance and help their classmates. I assisted mentee with the teacher tools. She practiced teleporting, giving items and freezing students.

1 Hour - Students had already been prepped for starting MinecraftEdu. Students had read the Scholastic Weekly Reader that was all about Minecraft. Students completed a writing project about Minecraft. At 1:30 I joined the classroom of 4th graders. I briefed introduction to the unit. We discussed the rules for play. I walked the students through the download. Students were very responsible and followed directions very well. Mentee was able to assist students with install. Last 20 minutes was designated as exploratory time for the students. We went over basic directions and I opened a Viking World (in creative) for students to explore.
